Description
This reconstruction is based on the discoveries made during the 2007-2008 campaign on the site of Pilauco Bajo of
Osorno, in Northern chilean Patagonia. The stratum dating carrier initially 12,500 years (Late Pleistocene) of
river deposition than contains numerous remains of animals and plants. The seeds of maqui (Aristotelia chilensis)
(upper left foreground) and lleuque (Andean Prumnopitys) (foreground higher right) are the most common. Myrtles
(Luma apiculata) (trunk into the river), quilas (Chusquea quila) (background to the right) and pastures were also part of landscape. The fauna is comprised primarily by mammals including the gonfoterium Stegomastodon platensis, horse (Equus cf), rodents (Myocastor sp.) and skunks (Conepatus sp.) along with at least two varieties of birds. Elitros of at least three species of beetles (in the machinery of the corner top left) have also been found.
